AI Video's Creator Moment

Show notes
Generative video stopped being a party trick this month. Ten-minute multi-shot models, per-second prices down into creator range, and platform rules that decide who actually gets paid. Rocco and Ruby map the model field, run the cost math, read YouTube's inauthentic-content rulebook out loud, and argue that the whole game just moved from generating footage to having taste.
Segments
- The Build — VideoGen Model 1 (Oct 20): multi-shot videos up to ten minutes from a text brief, with a $1M free-credit pool for creators. The Sora shutdown as cautionary tale: consumer app closed April 26, API off September 24. The model map and price ladder: Veo 3.1 ($0.05–$0.40/s), Runway Gen-4.5 (~$0.12/s), Kling 3.0/4.0, Seedance 2.5, Wan 3.0 (sub-$0.10/s), Gemini Omni Flash (editing-first). The cost math: a ten-minute video at $240, $60, or $30 depending on tier. YouTube's inauthentic-content policy: AI is monetizable, sameness is not; disclosure required for realistic synthetic media.
- Loud Links — lehighvalleypodcaststudio.com: a podcast studio for Lehigh Valley creators. Real room, real microphones, real acoustics — and the founding list is open now.
- Hot Take — "The camera is now a prompt, and that changes nothing about who wins. The audience never paid for footage. The audience pays for taste." Three receipts: Sora's death despite quality, YouTube demonetizing sameness rather than AI, and collapsing prices making footage worthless while taste stays scarce.
- Demo Derby — VideoGen Model 1's episode-length unit, AI Era's aieraco.com and its ~$78-per-episode series claim, PixVerse + OpenAI's Prompt to Production webinars teaching shot lists instead of prompts, ai& video's twelve-second iteration loop — plus the anti-demo: the Sora shutdown, and why your pipeline must treat every model as replaceable.
